PROBABLE SCENARIOS OF THE ORIGIN AND DEVELOPMENT OF ACCIDENTS IN STORAGE AND DELIVERY UNITS OF PETROL FILLING STATIONS

Abstract


All the dangers inherent in the equipment of gas stations are associated with the dangerous properties of oil products and overpressure during fuel transfer. The degree of danger in some cases also depends on the technical characteristics of the equipment.

The purpose of the work is to analyze the likely scenarios of the occurrence and development of accidents during storage and distribution of oil products at gas stations, as well as the development of measures to prevent these dangerous situations.

The conditions of the occurrence and development the accident at each stage the nodes of storage and distribution oil products of gas stations are analyzed in detail. The main reason for the violation the tightness of the tank is the mechanical or corrosive wear of the electrochemical origin, as well as errors of the maintenance and repair personnel. Other causes (excess of pressure above critical values, accidents at neighboring blocks, natural factors, etc.), which can lead to a violation the tightness of the tank with liquid fuel, are less likely, but they cannot be completely eliminated. The initiator of an explosion (fire) can be opened fire in any form of its manifestation (electrical discharge, lightning, fire and repair work, a working engine, electrical equipment, etc.). The most likely reason for the formation of the initiator can also be spontaneous combustion of iron sulfides, which are formed on the walls of the tanks during the interaction of metal corrosion products with hydrogen sulfide contained in petroleum products. The main cause of mass fuel leakage during the delivery of petroleum products may be, in the absence of control by the maintenance personnel, a violation of the tightness of the pipeline (hose) and the vehicle’s gas tank overfill if the „gun” is faulty.

Recommendations on the prevention of emergency situations during storage and distribution of petroleum products at gas stations and the actions of workers in case of their occurrence are developed.
